Five mods that change everything.

These five upgrades cover the highest-impact categories on a Pro R build: chassis protection, cab comfort, audio, safety, and communication. Each is the part we’d ship to a buyer who said ‘just tell me what to bolt on first.’

Pro R / Turbo R Front Winch Bumper

Pro R buyers tend to pick a bumper before any other mod — the factory plastic doesn’t take rock hits well at the speeds this chassis is built for. DRT’s bumper is welded steel cut specifically for the 2022-2024 Pro R / Turbo R front clip with an integrated winch mount and full grille shield.

Polaris RZR Pro R Dominator Cage

The factory Pro R cab cage was designed around weight and styling targets, not sport / desert duty. TMW’s Dominator is a 1.75″ DOM hybrid sport / desert cage built specifically for the Pro R chassis with bolt-on mounts at the OEM cab pickups. If you’ve added doors, audio, and a roof, the cage is the next upgrade that completes the cab.

Pro XP / Turbo R / Pro R Complete Comm Kit

Most Pro R owners run with a group, and the moment you put a real audio system and a sealed cabin on a Pro R, you also need a way to actually talk to whoever’s next to you and whoever’s in front of you. Rugged’s complete kit ships a GMRS radio, intercom unit, two helmet kits, and a chassis-specific dash mount in one box.

Best Pro R parts, by build category.

Pro R buyers don’t shop a single category — they build the cab in a roughly fixed order: Protection → Cab → Suspension → Power Delivery → Communication → Storage. Here are the tier-labeled picks we’d ship inside each category, sourced from the brands that actually engineer their parts for the Pro R chassis (DRT, Moto Armor, Rockford, Shock Therapy, TMW, Rugged).

Pro R Bumpers

The Pro R / Turbo R share a front clip, so the same chassis-specific bumper fits both. The factory front plastic doesn’t take rock hits well at 70+ mph dune speeds — this is the upgrade most Pro R buyers do first. Two front bumper picks below at different price points, plus a rear bumper for hitch / spare-tire builds.

Pro R Doors & Cab

The OEM Pro R door is a half-door — effectively decorative on dust and debris. Aluminum full doors are the canonical Pro R cab upgrade, and Moto Armor builds the version most Pro R owners end up running. Two options below: full 4-seat and 2-seat sets.

Pro R Audio

The Pro R cab and the Pro XP cab share an audio harness. Rockford’s plug-and-play kits are engineered around that shared harness — the Stage 5 is the configuration nearly every Pro R audio buyer ends up running. One pick below; we don’t pad this category with also-rans.

Pro R Cages

The Pro R is a dune / desert sport platform, so the cage you bolt on tells you a lot about how the truck’s actually being driven. TMW’s Dominator is the Pro R-specific bolt-on we’d run on a serious-build Pro R — 1.75″ DOM tubing, OEM bolt-on mounts, no chop work.

  • 1.75″ DOM tubing, sport / desert geometry
  • Bolt-on at OEM cage pickups (no chop)
  • 2-seat Pro R chassis-specific

Pro R Suspension

The Pro R ships with Walker Evans Live Valve shocks — 29″ front / 30″ rear of travel, adjustable on the fly. The shock package itself is more capable than the surrounding chassis hardware. Shock Therapy’s billet front lower shock fork is the upgrade that fixes the OEM cast-aluminum part most Pro R buyers don’t know is a weak point until it fails.

Best Premium · Shock Fork
Shock Therapy Polaris RZR Pro/Turbo R Billet Front Lower Shock Fork

Shock Therapy Pro/Turbo R Billet Shock Fork

$299.95

Billet aluminum replacement for the OEM cast lower shock fork on Pro R and Turbo R. A small piece, but the failure mode it prevents is what takes Pro R owners off the trail.

  • Billet aluminum (vs OEM cast)
  • Cross-fits Pro R + Turbo R front shock setup
  • Drop-in install on Walker Evans Live Valve hardware

Pro R Body Protection

Once the bumpers are on, the next thing rocks find is the fenders. DRT’s ABS fender kit cross-fits the entire Pro Series front end and is the canonical pick most Pro R buyers add along with their bumper upgrade.

Best Premium · Fender Set

Pro R Storage

Pro R cabs are aggressive but not particularly storage-friendly — the bed is shallow and the rear is open. DRT’s aluminum trunk enclosure and tire-carrier / adventure-rack are the two storage upgrades most Pro R buyers run on extended desert and dune trips.

Best Premium · Trunk

How we tier Pro R upgrades.

Pro R buyers self-select as premium-AOV — the average build spend is higher than a Pro XP or Turbo R owner’s. We rank picks by where the dollar lands hardest first. These are the four criteria we apply to every Pro R-specific category.

01

Chassis-specific

If a part is sold ‘Pro Series’ without specifying Pro R vs Turbo R vs Pro XP, dig deeper before buying — some chassis pickups are shared, but the front clip on a Pro R is not the same as a Pro XP.

Bumper rule: 2022-2024 Pro R / Turbo R front bumpers share a clip; Pro XP front bumpers are a different fit.

02

Protection first

The Pro R’s 225 hp engine is happy to run faster than the chassis plastic is happy to absorb hits. Bumpers + fender kits come before audio, before doors, before suspension tuning.

Build order: Front bumper → Fender kit → Doors → Audio → Comms.

03

Cab-experience second

Doors, audio, and comms compound — you don’t notice the audio system until the doors trap the sound, and you don’t need a comm kit until the audio drowns out conversation. Build the cab in that order.

Don’t skip: Doors before audio. Audio without sealed doors is wasted wattage.

04

OEM bolt-on preferred

Cage and trunk-enclosure upgrades that require chopping the factory cab structure cost installer time and resale value. We prefer the version of every upgrade that bolts to OEM pickups.

Caveat: Race-only cages weld in. For a street / dune Pro R, bolt-on is the right answer.

Pro R Accessories: questions buyers ask.

What’s the difference between Pro R and Turbo R for accessory fitment?

The 2022-2024 Pro R and Turbo R share a front clip, cab, doors, audio harness, and rear sub-frame, so most front bumpers, doors, audio kits, windshields, comms kits, and intake / trim parts cross-fit both. They diverge at the engine bay (Pro R is the 2.0L NA inline-four; Turbo R is the turbocharged twin) and at the rear bumper / trunk enclosure / exhaust cover, where Pro R-specific fab cuts to clear the larger engine package. When in doubt, look for ‘Pro R / Turbo R’ in the product title — that’s your cross-fit indicator.

What bolt pattern is the Pro R?

The Pro R uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern — the same as the RZR Pro S and RZR Xpedition (the new Polaris architecture group). This is the Polaris outlier — most other RZR models (Pro XP, Turbo R, Ranger XP) use a 4x156 pattern. If you’re shopping wheels for a Pro R, sort by 5x114.3 to avoid the most common cross-platform mismatch.

What engine does the Pro R run?

The Pro R runs the Polaris ProStar Fury 2.0L naturally aspirated four-cylinder, rated at 225 hp from the factory. It’s a normally aspirated DOHC four-stroke — not turbocharged like the Turbo R’s parallel-twin. That has real implications for clutching, intake, and exhaust mods: parts engineered for a Turbo R’s boost may not be optimal for the Pro R’s NA powerband.

Why do most audio kits list Pro XP / Pro R / Turbo R together?

Polaris designed the audio / power harness to be shared across the Pro Series cab, so a kit engineered for the Pro XP harness (like the Rockford Stage 5 we recommend above) plugs into a Pro R or Turbo R the same way. The amplifier, source unit, speakers, and dash brackets are all the same part. That’s good news for Pro R buyers — the Pro XP audio catalog is deep, and you get to shop the whole thing.

Will Pro XP parts fit my Pro R?

Some yes, some no. Audio, comms, doors, windshields, and most interior parts cross-fit because the cab is shared. The front clip / front bumper does NOT cross-fit Pro XP onto Pro R / Turbo R — those are two distinct front-end designs. The rear is Pro R-specific again because of the engine bay. Always check ‘Pro R’ or ‘Pro R / Turbo R’ in the product title; if a part says only ‘Pro XP’ or only ‘Pro Series’ without naming Pro R, ask.

What’s the right build order for a Pro R?

The build order most Pro R owners settle on, in roughly this sequence: 1) Front bumper + winch (rock protection at speed). 2) ABS fender kit (saves the OEM plastic from the same hits that destroyed the front clip). 3) Doors (turns the cab into a sealed environment). 4) Audio (only worth it after doors trap sound). 5) Communications (only worth it after audio drowns out conversation). 6) Rear bumper + tire carrier / chase rack (adventure builds). 7) Trunk enclosure (sealed cargo). 8) Cage upgrade (race / serious-build only). Suspension tuning is its own track and happens in parallel based on terrain.

Are Pro R aftermarket parts worth it vs OEM Polaris accessories?

OEM Polaris accessories are engineered correctly and warranty-friendly, but they’re also priced as factory options and they’re universal across the Pro Series. The aftermarket brands we feature on this page (DRT, Moto Armor, Rockford Fosgate, Shock Therapy, TMW, Rugged Radios) engineer parts specifically for the Pro R chassis — deeper materials, chassis-specific cuts, and dune-tested geometry. For protection and audio, aftermarket is usually the better answer. For warranty-sensitive comms and electrical, OEM and aftermarket are both fine — pick on price.

Does adding aftermarket parts void my Pro R warranty?

Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your full warranty simply because you installed an aftermarket part. They can only deny warranty on the specific component that the aftermarket part caused to fail. So: a Rockford audio kit can’t void your engine warranty. A Pro R-specific cage can’t void your driveline warranty. Polaris would have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure of the specific OEM component being claimed. Always document your installs and keep receipts.
