Editor's Picks — Best Xpedition Accessories

The five accessories we'd put on a Polaris Xpedition first — ranked by combined editorial weight (build impact, fitment quality, real-world value). These are the cross-category picks. The per-category deep dive is below.

Editor's Choice DRT Motorsports Polaris XPEDITION Front Bumper
DRT Motorsports

Xpedition Front Bumper

DRT's front bumper is the build piece that defines a finished-looking Xpedition. It's a bolt-on at OEM mount points, made from billet aluminum, finished in DRT's signature Cerakote black, and engineered specifically for the Xpedition's wider, taller front end — not a retooled RZR XP part. At $650 it's the editorial gold standard for a Xpedition build's first major exterior upgrade, and it pairs visually with the matching DRT rear bumper and chase rack.

  • Pairs with the DRT rear bumper, chase rack, and roof rack for a full set
Cons
  • Not winch-ready out of the box — if you need a winch mount, look at the SuperATV winch-ready alternative below
  • One color only (Cerakote black) at this price point

Xpedition Chase Rack / Tire Carrier

If you bought the Xpedition for adventure use, this is the upgrade that turns a 2-seat XP or a 5-seat ADV into a real overland platform. DRT's Chase Rack is a billet-aluminum rear cargo rack with an integrated full-size spare-tire mount, accessory tie-downs, and provisions for fuel cans, RotoPax, and traction boards. Cerakote black to match the front bumper. Bolt-on at OEM bed-rail mount points, no drilling, no frame welding. The Xpedition's 12.5-gallon factory fuel tank is already class-leading; adding fuel-can capacity on top of that makes the platform genuinely long-haul-capable.

#3 Best Heavy-Duty Rear AJK Offroad Polaris Xpedition Rear Bumper
AJK Offroad

Xpedition Rear Bumper

AJK Offroad is the dominant aftermarket brand for the Xpedition platform — they were first to market with Xpedition-specific tooling and have the deepest product catalog of any brand. Their rear bumper is heavier-duty than DRT's at the expense of higher weight: 70 lb shipping weight, full plate aluminum, with integrated tie-down points, hitch-side reinforcement, and provisions for trailer light wiring. The pick for buyers who actually use the Xpedition's 2,000 lb tow rating regularly or run trails where the rear takes hits.

  • Premium price; the DRT rear is lighter and ~half the price for buyers who don't tow heavy

SpeedWerx

Hypershift Clutch Kit (30-32" Tires)

The single most-impactful drivetrain upgrade for a Xpedition running anything bigger than the OEM tire size. Every taller tire you add costs the clutch effective mechanical advantage; the SpeedWerx Hypershift kit re-tunes the primary and secondary clutch with revised spring rates, machined weights, and a recalibrated helix to restore acceleration response, lower clutch operating temperatures, and extend belt life. The 30-32" tire variant is sized for the most common Xpedition build (OEM is 30", common upgrade is 32") and fits both XP and ADV trims. SpeedWerx has been clutching the Polaris ProStar engine family for over a decade and the Xpedition kit shares the proven Hypershift architecture from the RZR program.

Under $110 for the full set and the highest dollar-per-utility Xpedition upgrade in this category. Best Accessories by Category

Xpedition buyers tend to fall into builds: an overland tourer, a hunting / utility rig, a desert adventure platform. Below we sort the catalog by accessory category — bumpers, body protection, storage, interior, drivetrain, exhaust, comms, and cosmetic — with tiered picks (Best Premium / Best Value / Best Budget) for each. Every pick is verified-fit for both XP and ADV trims unless noted otherwise.

Bumpers

DRT Motorsports and AJK Offroad split the Xpedition bumper market. DRT leads on chassis-defining aesthetics and matched-set visual coherence; AJK leads on heavy-duty utility builds. SuperATV recently entered the platform (late 2025) with the first winch-ready front bumper. Pick the front bumper that matches your build intent, then add a rear from the same brand if you can — the finish-to-finish color match makes a noticeable visual difference.

Storage & Cargo

Storage is the highest-leverage build category for the Xpedition — it's the upgrade path Polaris designed the platform around. The DRT Chase Rack is the centerpiece of any serious overland or hunting build; AJK fills out the catalog with a roof rack, spare tire carrier, and the Milwaukee Packout mount that has become a genuinely-useful upgrade for trade-truck-replacement use cases.

Interior & Comfort

The Xpedition cab is the marketing centerpiece of the platform — Polaris positions it as long-haul comfortable. The aftermarket fills in where the OEM cab falls short: organized door storage, floor mats that survive water and mud, and seat risers for taller riders who find the OEM seating geometry tight. These are the four upgrades that come up in nearly every Xpedition forum thread.

Drivetrain & Engine

The Xpedition uses Polaris' 999cc ProStar Gen 2 engine paired with a high/low-range automatic PVT (CVT). Most Xpedition owners stay close to stock on the engine side, but two upgrades come up consistently: a Hypershift-style clutch kit when you change tire sizes (which the Xpedition platform supports up to 32" without lifts), and a gated shifter to firm up the OEM lever. Add the DRT A/C line protection kit if you run technical trails where engine-bay component damage is a real risk.

Exhaust Cover & Heat Shielding

A note on Xpedition exhaust: there is no full cat-back exhaust system available for the Xpedition yet. The platform's positioning is overland / utility / hunting, and aftermarket exhaust development is lower-priority than for the sport platforms. What is available today is exhaust covers — the cosmetic and heat-shielding pieces that sit over the muffler. Both AJK and DRT make them. Buy the one that matches the rest of your build's finish.

Criteria That Drive Our Picks

Polaris launched the Xpedition for the 2024 model year, so the aftermarket catalog is still maturing. Here's the four-point lens we use to decide what to recommend on a relatively young platform.

01

Xpedition-Specific Tooling

The Xpedition is not an RZR XP 1000. It shares the 999cc ProStar engine family but the chassis, bolt pattern (5x114.3), wheelbase, and bodywork are all different. We weight Xpedition-specific tooling heavily — parts engineered for this platform fit better than retooled RZR XP parts.

Tell-tale: if a product page says ‘Xpedition / RZR XP 1000' with no caveats, ask questions before buying.

02

XP vs ADV Coverage

XP is the 2-seat trim, ADV is the 5-seat crew-cab. Most aftermarket parts cover both, but some — roof racks, floor mats, certain rear bumpers — have separate SKUs. We call out the fitment difference where it matters.

Rule of thumb: rear-end accessories vary by trim; front-end and engine accessories usually don't.

03

Mission-Fit

Xpedition buyers split between overland (chase rack + tire carrier + roof rack), hunting / utility (Packout mount + winch-ready bumper + storage), and trail riding (rock sliders + skid + suspension). We sort picks by which mission each upgrade serves best.

Industry rule: protect the chassis first, add cargo capacity second, polish third.

04

Brand Maturity on the Platform

DRT Motorsports, AJK Offroad, SuperATV, SpeedWerx, and Rugged Radios all entered the Xpedition platform within the first year of its launch and have iterated their fitments since. We trust them to ship right and to honor warranties.

If a brand is new to you: check the warranty terms first — that's the cleanest signal.

Xpedition Accessory Questions

The questions buyers ask before they pull the trigger — pulled from forum threads, customer support tickets, and what our team gets asked on the phone.

What are the must-have accessories for the Polaris Xpedition?

If we had to pick five, in order: a DRT Front Bumper to set the chassis tone, the Savage UTV Door Storage Panels for cabin organization (the OEM cab ships almost devoid of storage), a DRT Chase Rack with integrated spare-tire mount to make the rear of the platform actually useful for adventure use, a SpeedWerx Hypershift Clutch Kit if you've gone up a tire size, and either AJK Rock Sliders (trail riders) or the Milwaukee Packout Mount (utility / work-truck use). The order shifts by mission: overland buyers go DRT Chase Rack first, hunting / utility buyers go Packout Mount first.

What is the bolt pattern on the Polaris Xpedition?

The Xpedition uses a 5x114.3 mm (5x4.5") bolt pattern. This is the same pattern Polaris uses on the Pro R, Pro S, and Ranger XD 1500 — the newer Polaris architectures. It is NOT the 4x156 pattern used on the RZR XP 1000, RZR Pro XP, and Ranger XP 1000. Practically: Xpedition wheels DO NOT cross-fit with most older Polaris UTVs. Buy wheels marked specifically as 5x114.3 (sometimes called 5x4.5). Aftermarket support is growing — check Method Race Wheels, Valor Offroad, Venum Wheel, and Packard Performance for the 5x114.3 lineup.

What's the difference between the Xpedition XP and the Xpedition ADV?

XP is the 2-seat trim, ADV is the 5-seat crew-cab trim. The ADV has an extended wheelbase, a longer cab, and four passenger doors. Mechanical specs are the same — both run the 999cc ProStar Gen 2 engine making 114 hp, both share the 12.5 gallon fuel tank, both tow 2,000 lb, both use the 5x114.3 wheel bolt pattern. Aftermarket fitment differs in a handful of categories: roof racks have separate XP and ADV SKUs (the ADV is longer), floor mats also have separate 2-seat and 5-seat sizing, and rear bumpers occasionally vary by trim. Front-end and engine-bay accessories almost always cover both.

Will RZR XP 1000 or Pro XP accessories fit the Xpedition?

Mostly no. The Xpedition shares some component-level parts with the RZR family (engine internals, certain belts, some clutch components) but the chassis dimensions, bolt pattern, mounting strategy, and bodywork are different enough that most exterior, body, and suspension parts do not cross-fit. The bolt-pattern alone (Xpedition 5x114.3 vs Pro XP / XP 1000 4x156) means wheels and tires don't interchange. Always check fitment specifically for the Xpedition before buying. If a product page says ‘Xpedition / RZR XP 1000' with no detail, call the manufacturer before purchasing.

Does the Xpedition come with a winch from the factory?

Some trims do, some don't. The base XP and ADV trims do not include a winch as standard equipment; the higher trims (Ultimate, NorthStar variants) often do. If you need to add one and you're already buying a front bumper, the SuperATV Winch-Ready Front Bumper ($670.95) is the only winch-ready front bumper in the catalog. If you've already bought a non-winch bumper, there are aftermarket winch-mount brackets available separately. Polaris-OEM Pro HD winches up to 4500 lb are also a popular OEM option.

How much weight can the Xpedition tow?

2,000 lb maximum tow rating. The Xpedition ships with a standard 2" Class III hitch receiver from the factory. The 1,030 lb payload is rated separately (cargo + passengers in the bed and cab). Towing 2,000 lb requires proper trailer setup, working brakes, and respecting the gross combined weight rating. For heavy-duty towing builds, the AJK Heavy-Duty Rear Bumper ($797.18) reinforces the hitch receiver and the rear chassis for repeated stress cycles.

What size tires fit the Xpedition stock?

The factory tire is 30" on the XP and ADV. Most owners go up a size to 31-32" without any lift, which the chassis accommodates within OEM clearances. Above 32", a lift kit and a recalibrated clutch are recommended. The SpeedWerx Hypershift Clutch Kit (30-32" tires) is the editorial pick for owners who go up one tire size; if you go to 33-35", look at the 33+ tire variants of the SpeedWerx kit and plan on a 2" lift.

Is there an aftermarket exhaust system for the Xpedition?

Not a full cat-back exhaust system at this point. The Xpedition's positioning is overland / utility / hunting (not sport), and aftermarket exhaust development has been lower-priority than for the RZR Pro / Turbo lineup. What the catalog does have is exhaust covers — cosmetic and heat-shielding pieces that sit over the OEM muffler (AJK $138.20, DRT $220). Buy the one whose finish matches the rest of your build. RPM Powersports has indicated Xpedition exhaust work is on their roadmap; check back later in 2026.

Will aftermarket accessories void my Xpedition warranty?

Not the entire warranty — federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) prevents a dealer from voiding your whole warranty just because you installed an aftermarket part. But the dealer can deny coverage on any specific component that the aftermarket part contributed to damaging. If your aftermarket clutch kit caused a primary clutch failure, the primary's not covered — but your suspension's warranty isn't affected. Keep your OEM parts, document your install, and if you intend to file a major warranty claim, swap the OEM parts back on first.

What's the best storage setup for an Xpedition adventure build?

The canonical adventure setup runs three pieces together: the DRT Chase Rack ($650) with integrated full-size spare-tire mount and side fuel-can capacity, the AJK Roof Rack ($533.26) for soft luggage and traction boards, and the Savage UTV Door Storage Panels ($109.95) for cabin organization. That's roughly $1,290 in storage upgrades and turns the Xpedition into a genuinely capable multi-day overland platform. Add the RPM Seat Riser Kit ($79.95) if you're tall and the AJK Milwaukee Packout Mount ($198.71) if you're running power tools in the bed.
