Our First Look at the 2026 Polaris Xpedition XP 1000

A fresh 2026 Polaris Xpedition XP 1000 landed at UTVS HQ, and we’re looking to mod it up with some choice parts. Before the upgrades start flowing, we wanted to break down what’s new for 2026 and give our early impressions. 

This platform already had a strong reputation for blending comfort, trail capability, and real utility, and Polaris made some smart refinements for the new model year. After spending time with the machine in person, here is what stood out most to us.

NorthStar Is Now Standard Across the Lineup

One of the biggest changes for 2026 is that every Polaris Xpedition now comes standard as a NorthStar Edition, and that is a big win for riders who want comfort built in from day one. This means heat and air conditioning with temperature and zone control, along with a fully enclosed cab featuring lockable full doors and power windows, all come standard across the lineup. It instantly sets the Xpedition apart as a true year-round machine.

You also get the 7 inch display powered by Ride Command and Ride Command+ connected technology, which brings GPS mapping, group ride tracking, music control, and real-time vehicle data into one clean interface. Pair that with the 114 horsepower ProStar 1000 Gen 2 engine, FOX 2.0 Podium QS3 shocks with position-sensitive spiral technology, and a standard dumping rear cargo box, and it is clear that Polaris built the NorthStar package to be both comfortable and fully capable right out of the gate.

30 Inch Pro Armor Trekker Tires and 14 Inches of Ground Clearance

Every 2026 Xpedition now comes equipped with 30 inch Pro Armor Trekker tires, and that change brings the machine to 14 inches of ground clearance. The added tire height gives you more confidence when the terrain gets rough and also adds to the overall stance of the machine.

We like this move from Polaris. It gives the Xpedition more ability right out of the crate without needing immediate tire changes. For trail systems with rocks, uneven terrain, or deep ruts, that extra clearance goes a long way.

Updated Color Options for 2026

Polaris refreshed the color lineup for 2026 with a clean and sharp selection:

  • Performance Red
  • Slate Gray
  • Matte Super Graphite returning from 2025

We currently have the Performance Red model in the shop, and it looks even better in person. The finish really highlights the shape of the machine and gives it a bold presence without being over the top.

XP 1000 Model and Cargo Bed Function

Since we have the XP 1000 model, we get the dumping rear cargo box, which adds practical exterior storage without cluttering the enclosed cabin. It is sized well for tools, recovery gear, camping equipment, or trail essentials, and keeping that cargo outside the cab helps maintain a clean and comfortable interior on longer rides.

Under that rear section sits the familiar and proven 1,000cc Gen 2 ProStar engine, producing 114 horsepower. It is the same power plant used in the 2025 model.

Dual A-Arm Suspension Front and Rear

The 2026 XP 1000 uses a high-clearance dual A-arm suspension setup at all four corners paired with FOX 2.0 Podium QS3 shocks. This combination supports the machine’s 14 inches of ground clearance and gives the Xpedition a predictable, confident feel when the terrain gets rough.

Interior Space and Cabin Comfort

One thing we always notice with the Xpedition is just how much room you get once you climb inside. Even in the back seats, there’s plenty of space to settle in, which isn’t something you can say for every enclosed side by side. With the full cab and factory heat and air conditioning with temperature and zone control, the interior stays comfortable no matter how long you’re out on the trail.

While Polaris doesn’t list specific sound-deadening materials or interior insulation in its specs, the cabin feels noticeably quiet and refined when you’re riding. It gives off more of an SUV-style vibe than what you’d expect from a traditional UTV, and that really changes the overall experience on longer trips.

The JBL audio system, standard on the NorthStar package, adds a lot to the ride. The sound is clear throughout the cab, so you can turn on music and enjoy it without fighting engine noise. And yes, cup holders are standard too, which may seem small, but it’s the kind of detail you end up appreciating every single ride.

What Should We Do With It Next?

We will only have this 2026 Xpedition for a limited time, so we want to make the most of it. We already have a few bolt-on parts in mind, but we want to hear directly from the community.
