How COVID-19 Has Affected The UTV Industry

The recent pandemic has thrown a lot of curve balls in many industries with the UTV industry seeing drastic changes in consumer demand trends throughout. In this article, we wish to inform you of how the UTV industry looked before the pandemic, how the pandemic has effected parts manufacturers and shed some transparency on what you as a consumer should expect going forward as we move into the later months of 2020.

The UTV industry prior to the COVID-19 pandemic was a thriving industry growing at a very rapid pace. With new innovation in the space happening year after year, the demand for parts and accessories was increasing rapidly. This rapid expansion put pressure on aftermarket parts manufacturers to expand their operations at a quick rate keep up with the growing demands.

When the pandemic hit, a lot of manufacturers didn't know what to expect, with many pausing and or scaling back their operations in an attempt to navigate the unknown with the mindset of keeping their business safe for the future. The reality is that the consumer demand for aftermarket parts and accessories ended up increasing DRAMATICALLY, which in turn, put manufacturers behind and scrambling to figure out what to do next. With fewer products being manufactured due to manufacturers leaning operations and the huge increase in demand for parts, we have experienced what could simply be defined as a "lag time" for parts manufacturing. Manufacturers had to identify the demand and then reverse their initial contraction and push into rapid expansion mode at levels many have never experienced. This "lag time" has created a bit of consumer confusion within the market as like any of us we want our parts now.

As we approach the later months of 2020, we are going to continue to see a bit of a "lag time" on high demand parts as materials are still tight world-wide and production will continue to be challenging for manufactures for the foreseeable future. As manufacturers continue ramping up their operations and materials become more readily available, we should start seeing lead times come back down and be able to better support the demand. At UTV Source, we are committed to working with our customers to provide them with the most up-to-date information as we get it, and we appreciate your patience as our teams work to get your needs fulfilled. Our Customer Support Team strives to offer a world-class service experience.
