As we all know, the UTV market, specifically the sports side-by-side market, is growing very rapidly. We've all been waiting for the day to come that the major dirt bike manufacturers take a shot at a UTV, and that day as come as Kawasaki nonchalantly drops a UTV teaser video on their YouTube Channel.
It all started with Honda and their release of their all new Honda Talon 1000R and Talon 1000X. These new units were the start to a huge push in brand new side by side releases from the big manufacturers. The next big player to release a sports UTV is going to be Kawasaki.
On June 17, 2019, Kawasaki released a teaser video on their YouTube channel with no context and no warning. It was up for an entire day before everyone in the side-by-side industry really knew what was going on, but once the news started to get out, it spread like wildfire.
Now you may be wondering why this is such a big deal and why so many of the industry specialists are excited. Really, since the beginning of the sports UTV world, Polaris has been the king. They've been making some of the best side-by-sides on the market without really any competition., that is, until Can-Am released their Maverick X3 lineup in 2017.
When Can-Am brought the competition to Polaris, Polaris had to really step their game up, and they released their Turbo S models. The Polaris RZR Turbo S models most likely wouldn't have been as good as they are right now if Can-Am didn't put the pressure on Polaris.
That being said, the more the larger players start to enter this market of sports UTVs, the more competition the market will see and will drive companies to build a better product to compete. This only means that consumers are going to be getting better products at better prices. The used market is also going to significantly change allowing people to purchase higher performance side-by-sides at a much lower cost.
We really look forward to seeing more of the larger powersports players enter this market, and are super excited to see what Kawasaki brings to the table!
