Segway Brings ATVs Back to the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo After Eight Years

Segway Powersports just put four wheels back on a course that hadn't seen them since 2018. At the 2026 Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, the brand led the return of ATV competition to the toughest hard enduro event on the planet.

Erzbergrodeo goes by a fitting nickname, the "Iron Giant." It runs through Austria's iron mine and pulls in elite off-road racers from across the globe. For years it was strictly a two-wheel battle. ATVs had been absent since 2018, so Segway Powersports partnering with Red Bull to reintroduce four-wheel competition is a real moment for the discipline.

An International Team on One Platform

Six riders representing three nations made the run, all aboard the Segway AT10. The group was headlined by American off-road racer Jacob Zuccone and joined by special guest Cain Smead of Dirt Wheels Magazine, along with accomplished riders out of Germany and Serbia. Together they became the first to campaign the AT10 at Erzberg, and the first to guide the platform to a finish at one of the most demanding races out there.

The 2026 Segway Powersports Erzbergrodeo ATV Team:

  • Jacob Zuccone, United States
  • Cain Smead, United States (Dirt Wheels Magazine)
  • Jurgen Mohr, Germany
  • Frank Geiling, Germany
  • Ralf Hoorman, Germany
  • Nikola Vujnovic, Serbia

Why It Matters

The idea behind the effort was bigger than a single result. Segway set out to embed itself in off-road culture while helping shape where the sport goes next. Bringing ATVs back to Erzberg honors the heritage of four-wheel racing and puts it in front of a new generation of fans on one of the biggest stages in the discipline.

"Erzbergrodeo represents everything that makes off-road racing special, determination, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of what's possible," said Gabriel Cruz, Marketing Director of Segway Powersports U.S. "Bringing ATVs back to this legendary event after eight years wasn't simply about competing. It was about creating opportunity, celebrating the roots of our sport, and pushing off-road culture forward. We didn't come to Erzberg to fit into off-road culture. We came to contribute to it."

That international angle was a big part of the story. Riders from the United States, Germany, and Serbia lined up under one banner, and the brand framed the finish as a shared win rather than a market-by-market one.

"This achievement is bigger than any one rider, country, or market. It is a reflection of what is possible when passionate people from around the world unite behind a shared vision," said Peter Pokorny, Marketing Director of Segway Powersports Germany. "Our teams from the United States, Germany, and Serbia came together not only to compete, but to make a lasting contribution to the sport we all love. That international collaboration makes our impact stronger because we are not simply representing Segway in our individual markets. We are representing Segway as a global brand with a shared commitment to innovation, adventure, and advancing off-road culture."

With riders from three nations and the AT10 proving itself on one of the harshest proving grounds in motorsports, Segway pulled off more than a historic finish. The brand helped reshape what the next chapter of off-road racing can look like.

Note: The Segway AT10 is currently not available for purchase in the United States.
